Board of Physicians Suspends Healthy Life Doctor's License
Three doctors and one physician assistant have been barred from practicing medicine in Maryland following the raid and subsequent closure of a Lutherville pain clinic.
The Maryland Board of Physicians has suspended the license of a fourth medical practitioner who worked part-time at the Healthy Life Medical Group—the Lutherville pain clinic that was shut down for allegedly over-prescribing narcotics to patients without medical need. The board posted the announcement to its disciplinary alerts Web page last week. Dr. Daniel R. Alexander’s license to practice medicine was summarily suspended after the board received a specific complaint from a pharmacist, according to the board’s investigation (see attached). The pharmacist reported having received "numerous" prescriptions for large quantities of Oxycodone—issued by Alexander and other Healthy Life doctors— for out-of-state patients on Nov. 21, 2011. …
