Spoiler Alert: Summer Britcher, born in Baltimore, has completed the first day of luge competition at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Don't read the rest of story if you don't want to know how she did.

Spoiler Alert: If you don't want to know how Summer Britcher, born in Baltimore, did in Monday's women's luge competition, don't read any further.

OK, for the rest of you, a medal seems unlikely for Britcher, who was in 15th place after two runs Monday at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

Ranked No. 14 in the world, Britcher had a big smile for reporters after Monday’s runs ended.

“It’s the Olympics,” the 19-year-old said in a Baltimore Sun story. “Of course, I’m happy.”

Teammate Erin Hamlin was in medal contention in third place after the first two runs. If Hamlin medals, she would be the first U.S. singles luger to ever medal at the Olympics, the Sun says.

And the third American competing, Kate Hansen, was in 10th place at the finish of Monday’s runs.

hope she does well but I cant stand the Olympics. why would they have it in a country with no drinking water or flushing toilets, and with a high probability of terrorist attacks makes no sense to me. could have picked a million other better places to have it. Russia is pretty anti American so I would not spend my hard earned money there. friend of mine was raised in a Russian orphanage and abused as a child...he and other kids were treated horribly in Russia. Something you won't hear the press report here... I have no interest or respect for Russia.

The press won't report it? Really? What about these: http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/russias-orphans-government-takes-custody-of-children-when-parents-cant-cope/2013/05/02/4d17ff4a-a757-11e2-a8e2-5b98cb59187f_story.html http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=9810880 http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/04/world/europe/04adopt.html?_r=0
