What happened between your TV spot earlier this year when you said the County was in great financial shape and now, where you are asking for early retirements? The tax income doesn't tank in 3 months. Was the balanced budget a lie?

I can sorta answer this. Short version: He says he's being squeezed by the state government, which is struggling to balance its own budget. Seems the state has decided to squeeze the counties (i.e. stop funding their road maintenance, and other things - tens of millions of dollars each year) in order to balance its own books. You know, passing the buck. Kamenetz says he's doing everything he can to not raise taxes, but our state is selling the counties out.

Tim, The State finished squeezing at the close of the session in March. Kevin said the books were fine in July.
