Councilman Huff, Property Owners Assess Flood Damage

Property owners at the corner of York Road and Beaver Run Lane suffered severe damage to their buildings as a result of flooding from Tropical Storm Lee.

District 3 Councilman Todd Huff met with owners of property near York Road and Beaver Run Lane on Monday to discuss as a result of

Huff said that he and the owners have collaborated on a FEMA disaster grant application. He vowed to continue to work on resolutions to solve problems caused by the flood.

"So far, we're good to go for the next step," he said. "All the land owners are in agreement."

Tom Longo, who owns buildings in the area, lost two of his tenants—S&S Appliance Outlet and Harvest Life Changers Worship Center—after in early September.

Side Street Cafe owner Ozzie Mehdizadeh, another one of Longo's tenants, that he was considering closing his business as well, but the costs of moving to a new location were too high.

"If you put your heart into something for 13 years, would you close?" Mehdizadeh asked. "I have a young daughter."
