Police Investigating Armed Robbery at Ashland Cafe

On Friday, two men rushed the business and put the owner in a walk-in freezer.

Baltimore County Police Department's Robbery Unit is investigating an armed robbery that occurred Friday in Cockeysville.

In that incident, two masked and armed gunmen rushed across the street to Ashland Cafe where the owner was at the side door. They tied him with metallic tape and put him in the walk-in freezer, then stole money, guns and his phone.

More details are not being released, said Det. Cathleen Batton, department spokeswoman. "It is an open, on-going investigation," and releasing the full report would compromise it."

Meanwhile, customers and Cockeysville residents are expressing their concern for the incident.

One reader sends prayers to the victim and his family. "He is the sweetest man and it is truly devastating this has happened to him," wrote Kelly Grant on Hunt Valley-Cockeysville Facebook page. "I can't even imagine what they are going through! Very happy to hear he is okay!"

"This is so heartbreaking I really hope that EVERYONE involved gets caught," said Anje Pangie.

The victim was able to free himself in the freezer and contacted police, according to an initial report.

He was not taken to the hospital, Batton said.
