Orioles to Honor Flanagan's Memory

The late Cy Young winner and Sparks resident committed suicide.

The Baltimore Orioles announced their plans to honor the late Mike Flanagan on Friday, according to a team press release.

Before Friday night's game against the New York Yankees, the Orioles are scheduled to have a moment of silence in Flanagan's memory, the release states. In addition, his uniform number, 46, will be displayed on a scoreboard in right field and a video tribute will be shown after the first inning. 

Starting with this game, the Orioles will wear a uniform patch with the inscription "Flanny" for the rest of the season. The Orioles flag will also be flown at half-staff at remaining home games.

The release noted that a black banner with "46" imprinted on it was installed above the press box where Flanagan sat when working with the MASN broadcast team.
