Police: Speed a Factor in Fatal Cockeysville Accident

A man was killed after the car he was riding in struck a tree at Old York Road and Glenberry Court.

UPDATE (July 18, 2:05 p.m.)—Speed was a factor in a fatal car accident around 5 a.m. Wednesday in Cockeysville, Baltimore County police said.

Stephen Christian Kirsch Jr., 23, was driving at "high rates of speed" southbound on Old York Road when he lost control of his 2002 Volkswagon Jetta, said Louise Rogers-Feher, a police spokeswoman. The car hit a tree near Glenberry Court and split in two. The front end of the car struck another tree.

Passenger Joshua George Gustin, 34, of the 900 block of Crosswind Place, was ejected from the Jetta after the first tree was struck, Rogers-Feher said. The Cockeysville resident was pronounced dead at 5:16 a.m.
