Jury Selection Continues for Huguely Trial

The jury selection for the trial of George Huguely, charged with murdering his ex-girlfriend Yeardley Love, continues.

Jury selection continued Tuesday for the case against George Huguely V, a former University of Virginia lacrosse player charged with murdering his ex-girlfriend Yeardley Love.

On Monday, Huguely, a 24-year-old Chevy Chase resident, pleaded "not guilty" to the following charges: first-degree murder, felony murder, robbery of a residence, burglary, entering a house with intent to commit a felony and grand larceny, The Washington Post reported.

Charlottesville Circuit Court Judge Edward L. Hogshire and lawyers have been working since then to select 12 jurors and three alternates from a pool of 160 people.

"Potential jurors on Monday were questioned about their personal experiences with domestic violence and their opinions of elite athletes. They were asked whether they could handle seeing graphic photos," The Post reported.

"Huguely, who has worn a dark sportscoat and tan pants in court, has taken notes as potential witnesses were questioned," The Post continued.

Huguely’s lawyers have indicated that they will suggest that a drug Love was taking to treat attention disorders could have caused a cardiac problem that contributed to her death, The Post reported.

The Virginia state medical examiner has ruled that Love died from blunt force trauma to the head.
