UPDATE: Woman Found Dead Inside Burned Car in Phoenix

The body was discovered during a missing person search.

(UPDATE 2:44 p.m.)— A woman's body was found inside a burned car on Thanksgiving morning in Phoenix, according to Baltimore County police.

The Toyota Camry was discovered with the victim behind the wheel at around 9 a.m. Thursday in the 1300 block of Phoenix Road by a police helicopter, said Lt. Robert McCullough. Police crews had been canvassing the area since about 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday night after receiving a report of a missing person from the same road.

The missing person is believed to have left her home Wednesday evening to visit a store in Cockeysville, according to a press release.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the car drove off a small hill at the location, struck several trees, continued down an embankment and caught fire, trapping the victim inside, according to McCullough.

It is still being determined if the woman is the missing person, police said. The body was transported to the state medical examiner's office.
