BGE: Forecasted Thunderstorms and High Winds May Cause Power Outages

Outages may occur as a result of damaging lightening, heavy rain and strong winds.

Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) has announced plans to closely monitor an approaching weather system that may bring heavy rain, lightening and high winds to Central Maryland on Tuesday. These conditions may cause possible electric service interruptions.

BGE has already made some adjustments in anticipation of power outages including canceling non-emergency maintenance work to free up available manpower.

Customers are urged to keep the following items on hand:

  • Flashlights – not candles
  • Fresh batteries
  • Battery operated clock radio
  • Corded telephone
  • Fully charged cell phone
  • Non-perishable foods
  • Blankets

Customers are also encouraged to fill up their vehicle gas tanks in case of power outages at nearby gas stations. And, those relying on well water should fill up their bathtubs with water before storms hit.
