And Cockeysville's Officer of the Year Is...

Christopher Kidwell is the "go-to guy" in a crisis.

One of Cockeysville's finest, who in 2012 arrested robbers, busted drug dealers and found stolen cars, has been selected as the Cockeysville Police Community Relations Council's officer of the year.

PFC Christopher Kidwell was recognized at the annual Officer Appreciation Picnic the group held earlier this month, according to the group's newsletter.

Kidwell was nominated by a fellow officer at Cockeysville's Precinct 7, Sergeant Benjamin Yohe.

"Due to his hard work and diligence as a patrol officer he is a very deserving candidate for the award," Yohe wrote in his nomination. "He is a very dependable police officer to have on the street and is a go-to guy when a critical incident occurs ...  When a major incident happens in the district he is one of the officers I want on the call because he can be depended on to follow through and get the job done."

Last year, Kidwell wrote 97 citations, 261 warnings and 173 Field Interview Reports for the year and totaled 7 felony clearances, 7 felony arrests, 67 misdemeanor clearances and 35 misdemeanor arrests, according to Yohe.

"Kidwell is averaging one more piece of enforcement daily than the rest of the squad," Yohe wrote.

Yohe wrote that Kidwell was instrumental in clearing three major narcotics cases in 2012 and in arresting the men allegedly responsible for robbing a 7-Eleven store on Falls Road in Towson in June 2012.

"Congratulations to Officer Kidwell for being our Officer of the Year," Police Community Relations Council director Pam Rutledge wrote in an email. "Thank you for your outstanding dedication and service to the Precinct 7 community!"
