Baltimore County police officers are scheduled to take 110 children Christmas shopping on Saturday.

The officers and children will go shopping at the Walmart Store in Cockeysville with $100 provided for each child by the Optimist Clubs in Baltimore County, according to a news release.

The children can spend the money as they see fit but generally spend it on gifts for their friends and family.

Following the shopping spree the officers and their “buddies” will have breakfast at Outback Steakhouse at the Hunt Valley Towne Centere.

According to police, this is the larges “Shop with a Cop” event in Maryland, and was started by officer Michael Schmitz, Essex precinct, in 2001.
