2013 Pasture Walk

Well maintained pastures can significantly lower feed  expenses for operators of livestock farms. In addition to being a large part of an animal’s diet and exercise, well managed pastures can help maintain water quality for our region. However, the challenges of our weather, grazing patterns and forage characteristics cause many landowners to ask what they can do to improve their pastures.

The Extension office in conjunction with the Baltimore County Soil Conservation District will kick off fall season with a pasture walk at the Baltimore County Center for Maryland Agriculture and Farm Park, 1114 Shawan Road, Cockeysville, MD 21030. This informal hands-on-pasture management discussion will begin at 6:00 pm rain or shine. The pasture walk is open to anyone with livestock and or questions about establishing or maintaining pastures.

Contact the Extension office to register at 410-771-1761.
