Readers' Choice Winner: Merritt Athletic Club
The Cockeysville gym received 46 out of 137 votes cast.
It was a close one, but Cockeysville Patch readers have declared Merritt Athletic Club to be the
"We have a very friendly staff and we know everyone that comes through the door," said John Alban, the gym's operations manager.
The Cockeysville location of the Maryland chain opened in 2003 and has about 1,600 members, Alban said.

In the "Readers' Choice: Best Gym" contest, just beat out its next closest competitor , 46-44. also had a strong showing with 35 votes.
A total of 137 votes were cast.
