Excessive Heat, Humidity Closes Public Schools

County officials recommend visiting "cooling centers" to get relief from the heat.

Baltimore County Public Schools are closing three hours early Tuesday because of extreme heat and humidity. There will be no afternoon pre-kindergarten classes.

All afternoon and evening activities, with the exception of graduation ceremonies, are canceled.

BCPS spokesman Charles Herndon said the last time the school system closed early for extreme heat was on Sept. 10, 2010.
