Crew members set up a base at Oregon Ridge Park.

BGE recruited around 1,400 out-of-state workers to assist the gas and electric company in restoring service to residents who lost power after Hurricane Irene, said spokeswoman Rachael Lighty.

Lighty said there is a total of more than 5,000 crew members working on this initiative, and that 80 percent of those who lost power have since regained it.

in Cockeysville is being used as a BGE base for about 300 servicemen.
