Thoughts on the Political Front

Political thoughts and wise cracks

After Rush Limbaugh issued an "apology" to Ms. Fluke claiming he used the wrong words and was trying to humorous, the next question should have been, What words should you have used?"

Russ was caught coming across the border with a load of Viagra and he was also a drug user at one time.  He wants to see a video of Ms. Fluke’s involvements, so this places him in the pervert category.  It’s time for Marylanders to place some heat on WCBM.

Romney spelled backwards is “Yenmor”  and “ttiM” hasn’t made a statement that he can’t deny or back pedal on. Note, that he really has a feel for us commoners. Mitt too thought Russ used the wrong words and so Mitt, what words would you have used?

Thinking of the Catholic hierarchy, if altar boys could become pregnant, the use of contraceptives would be a sacrament.

Republican leaders refuse to place restrictions and regulations on large companies, big businesses, and oil conglomerates, but these same leaders don’t mind restricting couples in the bedroom.  I wonder how many jobs this would cost in the contraceptive industry, considering about 99% of couples use some form of birth control.  How come there has been no movement by the Republicans to ban vasectomies?

It’s ironic that those who are pro-life are also pro-capital punishment.

About 25% of girls are sexually molested or assaulted by a family member including their father; if any these girls become pregnant, Rick Santorum claims it should be viewed  as a gift.

Franklin Graham is certainly not a “chip off the old block.”

I'm sorry, I have no idea what you are ranting on about here... also, your CAPS LOCK seems to be broken again. I don't get your link fetish either, if you want to share your own ideas on a topic, you should THINK instead of LINK. Just saying.
Buzz Beeler March 11, 2012 at 11:19 PM
David, I commented on our link. Your quote of, "you should THINK instead of LINK.", does that mean it is OK for you to link and not me? I did think because it was your link that I thought about. David, sometimes you must raise your voice when people cannot hear what you are saying. Bart you are correct but are you familiar with the inquisitions of the Middle Ages when christian religious leaders sanctioned the executions of between 40,000 and 100,000 victims on suspicion of being witches? Now applying the logic expressed on this topic do you conned the acts of that period by the Christians?
Bart March 11, 2012 at 11:53 PM
Of course not. These types of actions are never to be "condoned". But it was the style of the times.....before the enlightenment. And it was popular. Popular doesn't make right. As a people we need to strive to rise above petty, and often popular hobby of bullying each other in order to fulfill our place in the universe. Rush bullies, as do others. None of us is so far above our fellow man to justify berating each other. Where do we draw the line? And since YOU mentioned it.....the Christians had their inquisition and witch burning.....the (radical) Muslims have their "death to the infidels"....who is the worst? In a world of "an eye for an eye" all you are left with is a world of the blind. Where does it stop?
Buzz Beeler March 12, 2012 at 01:31 AM
You just made the point I have been trying to make this whole time. Neither side is wright in doing what is wrong. Both Limbaugh and Maher along with anyone else, either on the right, left, center or just out there, has the right to attack anyone with that kind of language. The sad part is these guys are suppose to be bright, intelligent, successful men and to make statements like that is why I used the term - ludicrous.
Bart March 12, 2012 at 01:51 AM
No Buzz, I think you missed the point altogether when you talked about 2 sides to the story. BOTH sides should have been all over Limbaugh for his "ludicrous" statements. Ed only commented on his hateful statements, the fact that the GOP won't control Wall Street, but wants to control women's health care, and that the Catholic Church won't control its priests, but also wants to control women's health care. When you brought up nasty comments from the left against Public figures, your stance semed to let Limbaugh off the hook. Two wrongs don't make a right. Never.
Buzz Beeler March 12, 2012 at 05:49 AM
Bart, this is your quote: "your stance semed to let Limbaugh off the hook." This is part of my opening statement that I asked everyone numerous times to read: "What is incredulous about Limbaugh's remarks are not only the content but the fact that a man who espouses to his brilliance failed to recognize same in a lesson my father taught me a long time ago - think before you speak." Now if you can garnish a - I left Limbaugh off the hook on those words then I'm missing something. Don't use the word "your stance seemed" when all you had to do was read my complete comment. You are right, two wrongs don't make a right, the key word here being the word of your choice which is - two meaning both sides. That was the crux of my point.
JH March 12, 2012 at 12:57 PM
This article is just more left wing nonsense. The far left loons on MSNBC are pushing this story as if women are at risk and like it deserves national attention. A big deal about very little. The important issues are side lined so that Obama Admin can avoid the real failures of the last 3 years. Don't be duped again? Wake up student stooges, union goons, and Barney Frank buffoons. Time for new leadership.
David Taylor March 12, 2012 at 05:34 PM
Here's a link for you... I seriously doubt that the CEOs, COOs, and Executive boards of these companies are all part of some "Librals conspiracy" or any such... they are simply making a decision to distance themselves from a hateful old radio clown. Are these the people who are enforcing this "double standard" by not pulling their ads from the other shows? These are the culprits !!! Go get 'em !!! "EXCLUSIVE: 141 Companies Drop Advertising From Rush Limbaugh" Walmart, Exxon, Ford, Wells Fargo ... http://thinkprogress.org/media/2012/03/12/442673/141-companies-advertisng-rush-limbaugh/?mobile=nc
Ed Veit March 12, 2012 at 05:50 PM
JH Your wife, daughter, or girl friend are "sluts and prostitutes," but that doesn't matter because it appeared in the newspaper and chatted about on talk radio. Look at it as a complement. Liberals have given you minimum wage, health care, & social security. Send me a list of conservative items that have been given to the voters. Next list the Obama failures: the bailouts, Iraq, homeland security, healthcare, extending unemployment compensation, and continued payroll tax benefits are his successes so you can't include these. And remember that last attack on American soil was during the Bush II watch, "Mission Accomplished"
kevin March 12, 2012 at 07:18 PM
Ed is used to being in over his head .Just look at his soccer coach years at UMBC when he didn't have Dundalk Rec to train his players . How was that college run coach?
Buzz Beeler March 12, 2012 at 08:36 PM
Ed, please tell me what the number on threat to the United States is? Oh and by the way, the Washington Post, a rather liberal paper might answer your question concerning Obama's failures. I used the Post because they are in the same dugout you are. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-insiders/post/obamas-failed-energy-policies/2012/03/01/gIQA3bc4kR_blog.html
Bruce Kahl March 12, 2012 at 09:12 PM
Veit, Don't bring the 9/11 tragedy into this and put blame when you have no idea what your talking about. You may have an opinion that has been formed from conspiracy news agencies. I can assure you that the blame is not the issue at his time. I am burying a friend next week and this type of blame does nothing to heal the pain.
Buzz Beeler March 12, 2012 at 10:54 PM
Bruce, sorry about the death of your friend and hope your wounds will heal. It is sad when closed minds block out the ability to be objective and learn, because they cannot see beyond a label and agenda. I have tried to engage in a dialogue, but that is tough when they won't even look up the meaning of a word that is the crux of that dialogue.
Ed Veit March 13, 2012 at 08:37 PM
Kevin, Funny thing, the Dundalk rec provided no winning players before 1966 when I arrived at DHS and then they provided no winning players after I departed for UMBC. How Come? At DHS, from 1966 to 1973 I count as my fun years in education, the recreation supplied players won 73 matches lost 6 and tied 5, won four county and district championships and two state championships; and went 43 matches in a row without a loss. How come no championships came after that? My UMBC experience was just as much fun--the Retrievers had no winning soccer teams since they opened in 1966 and after I showed up they went seven straight years with winning teams and during that time UMBC Soccer won two Mason-Dixon championships went to to the NCAA playoffs and still have the best soccer season UMBC ever had when in 1977 they went 15 -2. Funny thing, the coach that followed me in to UMBC had 10 straight losing seasons. If you walk the halls in the UMBC gym, you can find my picture in the UMBC Athletic Hall of Fame. And another thing, I had an a player who showed up to academically ineligible in 1971, had that not been so DHS would have won may six more matches at the time. I'll admit that I was not an all-soccer coach, but I knew a lot about winning. Now Kevin if you wish to continue this conversation, you're in over your head
Ed Veit March 13, 2012 at 08:49 PM
Bruce, Sorry about your loss--but it is tough running into two guys like you and Buzzy who evidently have the correct opinions and know everything. There were no comments on the other one liners in that blog, so the only mistake I made was about the Viagra smuggler?
kevin March 13, 2012 at 11:49 PM
Well then what I heard about UMBC was wrong and I apologize . I should have checked my facts obviously the person I had talked to was talking about the coach who came after you at UMBC .So even if I disagree with you on most of your political views I must say I'm sorry about the false accusation at UMBC .Congratulations on that achievement .
Buzz Beeler March 14, 2012 at 12:20 AM
Ed, I don't know everything, but when you keeping asking a question and never get an answer what does that say to the message. Remember I just asked you what the number one crisis facing this country is? Now is your chance to show the substance of your stance. You brought it up, remember. Kevin, nicely done. It takes a good man to admit when they are mistaken. And Ed, by the way, I have admitted many times when I have been wrong. As a coach you should know that because in order to win, it's a good idea to view your opponents film.
Ed Veit March 14, 2012 at 01:09 AM
two issues: DRUGS & HATE.
Ed Veit March 14, 2012 at 01:22 AM
Next, the number one spreader of hate, the Viagra smuggler and "former" oxycodine user, says the Sandra Fluke debacle was a White House conspirancy. In other words President Obama tricked him into calling Ms. Fluke a "slut" and "prostitute." Both of my topic are espoused by one radio personality---that I find incredulous.
Ed Veit March 14, 2012 at 01:23 AM
thanks KEVIN

While I do not find him funny and do not care for him Bill Maher is a comedian. I do not think his name calling of Palin was warranted or amusing but I do not think it can be viewed the same as Rush's comments. Rush is not a comedian. He is a political commentator and a very influential Republican speaker. So his words are viewed much more critically than Maher's were and rightly so. Now I know some conservative commentators and aanchors like to pretend there is no difference between what they do and what some comedians do and therefore they should both be held to the same exact standards but I think most logical people can see a difference. Also this whole debate is silly. A public person said something stupid and his fans "argue" it or more likely distract from it by pointing out what someone else did. Its like children on a playground. He did it first, no he did.
Rob March 18, 2012 at 11:51 AM
She and the rest of the clowns that were there told bold face lies to advance a liberal agenda. Not only was the hearing a complete waste of time and money for the tax payers, it was a phony hearing that meant absolutely nothing. Anything said during that so called hearing can't and doesn't apply to the original real legal hearing because it had nothing to do with women and rights to contraceptives. People like you want to act like you care and you know what's going on but you're the biggest heard of sheep that screws this country up. Please for all of our sakes, come down off your ivory tower and think for yourself and stop being distracted by the real problems of our country by your puppet masters that control everything you think and say.
Rob March 18, 2012 at 11:53 AM
Have you contacted MTV and their sponsors?
Rob March 18, 2012 at 11:57 AM
Maybe you should put some of those college degrees to use and see the distraction that they are using this issue for. It's funny how you never heard a single word about what Bill Maher said until Rush said what he said. Talk radio took advantage of this situation and exposed the left for their bias double standard when people that don't normally pay attention were. The result was an all time low for the drama queen we have in the white house. Good job Rush!
Rob March 18, 2012 at 12:02 PM
You're right on this one; calling someone a slut doesn't even start to come close to what has been said about Sarah Palin and her family. Like when the left said her downs syndrome baby was really her daughters. Or that she's qualified to speak of Fox News because she has experience talking to a Downs Syndrome baby. Or that her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez during the 7th inning stretch. Tell me something - is going to a baseball game minding your own business a reason to attack someone? Just Saying!
Rob March 18, 2012 at 12:10 PM
I mean really dude, do you really want anyone to believe that there is a concern for women and the way they are treated or portrayed by the left? Have you watched TV lately? Even a freaking commercial? Will you stuck-up liberal's please stop acting like you care about women and how they are talked about, portrayed, represented ect.ect. Just turn on the liberal controlled airwaves of television and look for yourself. It don't even have to be MTV turn on one of the big three networks and watch their commercials. All of you liberals are phony...
Rob March 18, 2012 at 12:19 PM
It's more serious then children on a play ground. The left will use stuff like this to silence people and trample on the first amendment. It is they that are using this as a distraction to advance their agenda. Fortunately for America Rush Limbaugh has opened the eyes of millions of people that wouldn't have otherwise seen what is going on. This is not directed at you personally but If you don't like what he says or how he says it then don't listen. I personally like Rush Limbaugh and enjoy his show, I do not like people like Bill Maher or David Letterman so I do not watch their shows, nor do I watch anything on CNN, MSNBC, HLN, or anything political on CBS, ABC or NBC. I know that what I will get from them is fabricated to favor the left regardless of what democrat they are speaking of.
Bart March 19, 2012 at 12:21 AM
Rob, you're late to this discussion. Trouble climbing out from under that bridge?
Bruce Kahl March 22, 2012 at 03:39 AM
Now its time for a beer.
