Baltimore, Md. – Fr. Leo Patalinghug (“Fr. Leo”), Catholic priest, celebrated chef, founder of Grace Before Meals and well-renowned author, today announced the release of his newest book, Epic Food Fight: A Bite-Sized History of Salvation, which is now available for purchase on GraceBeforeMeals.com.  This is Fr. Leo’s third book, following his two successful cookbooks, Spicing Up Married Life: Satisfying Couples’ Hunger for True Love and Grace Before Meals: Recipes and Inspirations for Family Meals & Family Life.

Epic Food Fight offers a blend of Fr. Leo’s profound truths with humor and a hint of wit in a way that appeals to all Christian cultures and religions. In this new book, Fr. Leo goes beyond an explanation of how eating together builds stronger families and examines the theological aspects of food more deeply.

Epic Food Fight provides a comprehensive theological framework for assessing the significance of eating and how eating together builds stronger families,“ said Fr. Leo.  “You are what you eat! Your mind, heart and soul are capable of digesting God’s Word, especially as it becomes flesh to dwell among us.”

Following the example of Jesus Christ, whose miracles and teachings often involved food, Fr. Leo explains salvation history by what he calls a “theology of food,” – a godly logic to every bite of food we take.  He also explains the cosmic struggle between good and evil and how it can be seen as an “eternal food fight” between God and the devil.

With Fr. Leo, theology as well as the subject of food is never boring, but rather fascinating. Throughout his book, Fr. Leo, in a simple yet practical way, invites his audience to read, savor, chew on and digest theological concepts one might never have understood before.

Since creating Grace Before Meals in 2003, the concept has grown from a simple idea into a worldwide movement producing a book, blog, series on SiriusXM Radio’s Catholic Channel called “Entertaining Truth," cooking show “Savoring Our Faith” on EWTN, and a pilot for a television show endorsed by PBS. As a result, Fr. Leo was able to produce his second cookbook, Spicing Up Married Life, which encourages couples to put the kids to bed and make a romantic meal for two, providing the chance to renew their love for each other and to God. Fr. Leo and Grace Before Meals have been profiled by national media outlets including ABC World News, CBS News Sunday Morning, The 700 Club and The Washington Post.  In addition, Fr. Leo has appeared on the Food Network hit show, Throwdown with Bobby Flay, in which he defeated the famous chef in a fajita cook-off.

More information about the book can be found at GraceBeforeMeals.com. The first 50 pre-ordered copies of Epic Food Fight: A Bite-Sized History of Salvation will be signed by Fr. Leo himself! You can pre-order Epic Food Fight: A Bite-Sized History of Salvation HERE.
