EPIC Pharmacies CEO Honored for Community Service and Industry Leadership

In recognition of his civic and community leadership, EPIC Pharmacies President and CEO Angelo Voxakis, P.D., has been awarded one of pharmacy’s most prestigious honors, the Bowl of Hygeia Award.

“At the heart of independent pharmacy is serving and caring for the local community. Angelo’s leadership in independent pharmacy and support of numerous civil and professional organizations in Maryland continues to be a testament to the industry,” says EPIC Pharmacies Executive Vice President Mark Barwig.

Voxakis is a supporter of the Arthritis Foundation, Maryland Chapter, and a member of St. Demetrius Greek Orthodox Church in Parkville, Md. He has also served on the McKesson Drug Company National Advisory, the Maryland Board of Pharmacy Medication Errors Committee, the Baltimore Metropolitan Pharmacists Association board of directors, and the Maryland Retailers Association. He received the Amerisource Family Pharmacy Award and the Seidman Distinguished Service to Pharmacy Award. He was president of the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy Alumni Association and received the Key to Pharmacy and Dean’s Hall of Fame.

The award is sponsored by the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) and National Alliance of State Pharmacy Association (NASPA) and was awarded by the Maryland Pharmacists Association (MPhA) with support from Boehringer Ingelheim. In addition to service through their local, state, and national pharmacy associations, award recipients have devoted their time, talent, and resources to a wide variety of causes and community service.
