Whole Foods Markets in the Mid-Atlantic region are recalling an organic creamy spinach dip because it contains eggs, an undeclared allergen, according to a news release.
The recalled spinach dip was sold with a Whole Foods Market scale label reading “organic creamy spinach dip” with a UPC of <0 00000 30901 1> in 12-ounce plastic containers with a “use by” date on or before 12/10/13, says the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products, the FDA said.
The spinach dip was distributed to Whole Foods Market stores in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C, among other states.
To date, no illnesses have been reported, officials said.
Whole Foods Market customers who have purchased this product should discard it, and may bring in their receipt for a full refund, the news release said. For more information, call (512) 477-5566, extension 20060, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Daylight Time weekdays.
