The hotel was recently acquired by Los Angeles-based Laurus Corp.

An area hotel will be renovated and rebranded following its acquisition by a west-coast based real estate development firm.

Laurus Corp., based in Los Angeles, bought the Hunt Valley Inn, 245 Shawan Road, from Marriott and plans to transform the hotel into a Wyndham Grand, the Baltimore Business Journal reported Wednesday morning.

The new owners plan to spend $9.5 million renovating 393 guest rooms, adding a 4,000 square foot outdoor patio and increasing the hotel's meeting space to 33,000 square feet, the paper reported.
