Family Hails McCormick CEO for Delivering Picky Kid's Favorite Spice

The girl wouldn't eat foods that weren't seasoned with her favorite McCormick blend, which has been discontinued.

The CEO of the Maryland-based spice company, McCormick, came to the aid of a family whose 5-year-old daughter refused to eat foods that weren’t prepared with the company’s Mediterranean Herb seasoning, reports the Baltimore Sun.

The Atlanta family searched at stores and found just one jar of the blend they use on fish, one of the few foods their daughter, Lara, will eat.

As a last resort, Lara’s father, Jesse Potter sent an email to the Hunt Valley spice maker's CEO, Alan Wilson, requesting help tracking down the discontinued product, the newspaper said. Not only did Wilson personally respond on the same day, but he also offered to have his team search the warehouses for any remaining supply. If it was gone, he told them, he would send them the recipe.

Within a week, McCormick found a case of Mediterranean Herb and shipped it to the family, the Sun said. The company refused to let Potter pay for the product.

Wilson, a 20-year McCormick veteran who has been CEO, president and chairman of the $4 billion corporation since 2008, said he gets a few emails with stories similar to the Potter's every year, the paper reports.
