Construction Begins On York Road Sonic

Construction began on the York Road restaurant earlier this month.

The wait for pretzel dogs, cherry limeade and (a personal favorite of mine) cheeseburger toasters is growing shorter.

Construction began earlier this month on a Timonium location of fast food chain Sonic, America's Drive-In; as of Wednesday afternoon it looked as though crews were still in the process of demolishing the building that formerly housed a Roy Rogers on the lot.

A banner hanging on a fence at the construction site says that the chain is hiring for the location at areyousonicgood.com.

Back in February, Patch's Nick DiMarco wrote that the lot at 2027 York Road had sat vacant for about four years before a Sonic, America's Drive-In, was proposed for the site

At the time, Greater Timonium Community Council president Eric Rockel said that "a line of three or four cars waiting to get in[to the restaurant]" was the last thing York Road needed.

Facebook page for the nascent restaurant had 219 "likes" as of July 28. On July 20, the page owner posted a photo advertising specials with a caption that said simply "coming soon"

Currently there are two Sonic franchises in Baltimore County: one in Woodlawn at 8212 Liberty Road and one in Rosedale at 8733 Pulaski Highway.
