Kach Leaning Toward Supporting Same-Sex Marriage

Anne Arundel County delegate claims Kach acknowledged the switch in a private meeting.

Del. Wade Kach could be leaning toward a vote in favor of legalizing Gov. Martin O'Malley's same-sex marriage bill when it comes up for a vote in the House of Delegates.

Del. Don Dwyer, an Anne Arundel County Republican, sent an email to opponents of the bill late Wednesday claiming to have personally met with Kach:

Delegate Dwyer has just met personally with Republican Delegate Wade Kach from District (5B). Delegate Kach has admitted to Delegate Dwyer that he has in fact changed his vote and will now vote with the Governor on the issue of gay marriage. Delegate Dwyer suspects that there must be one heck of an offer on the table to convince Delegate Kach to vote against his moral convictions as well as the desires of those who elected him.

Please bombard his office with calls and emails relentlessly stating your disappointment, particularly if you live in his district. Feel free to distribute this email to others who may be interested.

Attempts to reach Kach were not immediately successful.

The House could hold a preliminary vote on the floor of the House as early as Thursday morning.

Kach would be the second county delegate whose vote on the same-sex marriage bill is rumored to be in play.

Del. John Olszewski Jr., a Dundalk Democrat, is also said to be considering a vote in favor of the bill.
