The Maryland Jockey Association announced that hip-hop legend Nas will be one of the headliners at this year's Preakness InfieldFest on May 17.

"[The] superstar artist speaks to a broad range of devoted and loyal fans," Maryland Jockey Club president Tom Chuckas said in a prepared statement. "We are thrilled to welcome him to InfieldFest."

Nas is tied with Eminem and Kanye West for having six rap albums hit the number-one spot on the Billboard 200 list. Since the release of his debut Illmatic twenty years ago, the musician from Queens has released a steady stream of hits, including "The Message," "Hate Me Now," "N.Y. State of Mind," among many others. Also, Harvard University named a fellowship after him last year for demonstrating the power of critical analysis through hip-hop.

In addition to Nas, New Zealand singer Lorde will headline at InfieldFest, with electronic dance DJs Glenn Morrison and Frank Walker opening up the main stage.

Switchfoot, Eli Young Band, Sundy Best and Go Go Gadjet will be on the Jägermeister stage.

InfieldFest promises to be "fascinating to witness" this year, as Lorde and Nas are "heady artists that care deeply about the lyrics they deliver, much more so than the party-atmosphere they cultivate," according to The Baltimore Sun.

Past musical acts booked for the festival included Maroon 5 and Pitbull.

Tickets for InfieldFest 2014 start at $60. Get ticket info here. The Preakness Stakes is Saturday, May 17.
