The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for parts of Maryland, along with neighboring Virginia and the District of Columbia.
In Maryland, the watch includes Anne Arundel, Carroll, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, Baltimore, and Prince George’s counties.
The watch runs from late Thursday night through Friday afternoon as forecasts call for periods of heavy rain Thursday afternoon through Friday morning. Two to 3 inches of rainfall is expected, with higher amounts possible in some of the watch area.
Flash flooding is also possible, especially along small rivers and streams.
Relief arrives on Saturday, with clear skies and cooler temperatures. The weather service says the weekend should be mostly sunny with highs on the low 70s.
