A Maryland physician will be honored as an organ donor Wednesday on the Donate Life America float in the Tournament of Roses parade.

Dr. Michael Edelstein was on the staff at Sheppard Pratt Health System in Towson for nearly 30 years, says the Baltimore Sun. Edelstein, who died last year of a heart attack at age 66, donated his cornea, which restored the sight of two recipients.

"I was happy that a part of him lives in someone else," Elaine Edelstein of Cockeysville, his widow, told the Sun.

Donate Life America, a national organization that raises awareness of organ and tissue donation, usually has about 75 floral pictures on its float. This year, Dr. Edelstein’s floral portrait will represent cornea donors.
