Towson Law Firm Plans To Appeal Recher Liquor License

Charles Brooks will appeal the liquor license renewal granted Monday to the owners of the former Recher Theatre.

A Towson attorney said he plans to appeal a decision Monday to renew the liquor license held by the owners of the former Recher Theatre. Charles Brooks said he could file the appeal the decision of the Board of Liquor Licenses Commissioners as early as the end of next week. On Monday, the board dismissed Brooks' challenge to the renewal because he failed to have all of the community members who signed the petition present at the hearing, according to Mike Mohler, chief administrator for the board. Liquor license allow anyone to challenge a renewal as long as at least ten business owners or members of the community in the district where the licenses is issued signs a petition. Those rules then require that all who sign the petition appear …

Everyone keeps worrying about a night club in Towson but no one is saying anything about the BIG PROJECT right behind the Recher that will have a 16 screen movies and at least 6 new restaurants. The fact that CVP has had problems shows you that its not what the venue is. IT IS THE ALCOHOL.   more ›

Bay Bank of Lutherville Acquires 10 Carrollton Bank Branches

The Carrollton branches, that are located throughout the Baltimore Metropolitan Area, as well as Bay Bank branches, will soon be renamed BayBank.

Ten Carrollton bank branches will be renamed soon, because their aquisition by Bay Bank is now complete. On Monday, the Lutherville company Bay Bank announced that the deal is final, and that the banks, including Bay Banks, will be rebranded as "BayBank," according to a news release on Globe Newswire. It was final April 19, according to the BayBank website. Grand openings will be from April 29 to June 1, the release states. Also, Jefferson Bancorp, Inc., the parent company of BayBank, "completed its merger with Carrollton Bancorp," it states. Read the full report by Globe Newswire. County To Announce Major Development In Towson

County Executive Kevin Kamenetz and officials from DMS Development will announce a mixed-use project for Towson triangle area.

County Executive Kevin Kamemetz and representatives of DMS Development are expected to announce Tuesday a mixed residential-retail project for the area known as the Towson Triangle. The announcement will include a proposal for a planned unit development to include between 200 and 300 apartments and some retail space. Pending required approvals, the proposed $60 million project could be completed by 2018, according to a source with knowledge of the project who spoke on background because they were not authorized to discuss the project in advance of the announcement. Right now the property in question is an ugly eyesore. If commercial development can be achieved so that some revenue producing businesses result, that will be a good thing for Towson. Increased traffic is a worry, and should force the County to complete sidewalks on both sides of East Burke Avenue. Memorial Gathering Friday Night for Maynard Keadle

Former students, teachers, friends and more are invited to "A Toast to Maynard Keadle Friday at HighTopps Backstage Grill.

Maynard Keadle, the longtime pricipal at Dulaney High School, as well as the first principal at Perry Hall High School, will be honored during a gathering Friday. And those who knew him are welcome to attend. Keadle, 84, a former resident of Cockeysville and resident of Timonium, died March 19. Eileen Pohlhaus is acting as host of the event, titled "A toast to Maynard Keadle." It will be held from 6-9 p.m. at HighTopps Backstage Grill, 2306 York Road in Lutherville-Timonium. "We are inviting all former Dulaney grads," Pohlhaus said in an email.
