There are just some things you should not do when debating politics.

"As a moderator, I thought this was an even debate, but I think you do not raise new issues in a final speech. That's just an understanding," said Richard Vatz, a Towson University professor and conservative politics blogger.

He was referencing State Sen. Nancy Jacobs (R-Cecil and Harford) who lobbed an attack at incumbent Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger in her closing arguments at a debate hosted by the Springdale Community Association Monday evening at Warren Elementary School. Ruppersberger was not given the chance to respond to her allegations.

After a series of questions regarding taxes, national security and the Affordable Care Act—to name a few—Jacobs attacked her opponent for a measure he supported during his time as County Executive.

I'm not a Jacobs apologist but I don't recall ever hearing the rule Vatz mentioned. The Baltimore County land grab clearly shows Dutch's view on the role of government. I think it was a bold move on her part to point it out. Dutch's closing argument was stronger even with Jacobs making a good point about eminent domain.

Dutch hasn't done a thing since he has been government except cause problems.

How do you run on a record that has us in failed wars, a out of control debt crisis and a sign that says - Follow me to four more years of the same ole same ole!

His closing argument should have been dealt with four years ago.

I've personally seen him pander too many times to trust him. After two failed wars, an economy, and a list as long as the debt of failures and special interest, he's bad business.

You're right. A vote for jacobs is a vote for little or no representation. She slept in Annapolis for a decade I guess she wants a new place to catch a few winks.
