Lutherville-Timonium Crime: Homeowner Catches Burglar & More
The following information was supplied by the Baltimore County Police Department. In cases where a criminal charge is noted, the information provided does not indicate a conviction.
Points of interest:
The week before Superstorm Sandy blew through town there were only two reported crimes in the area.
The week of the storm, there were six. The worst reported incident involved a homeowner catching a burglar in the act (see below).
Also, it appears that burglars have moved on from unlocked doors and are now looking for unlocked windows. Good rule: If it has a lock, use it.
And finally, with the cold weather on the way, it appears burglars are targeting jackets, coats and the like.
Foxley Court, 2200 block, between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Oct. 31. A burglar stole jewelry from a Timonium home. Nothing else in the house was disturbed. There were no signs of forced entry.
Ivy Church Road, 300 block, between 2:15 and 2:20 a.m., Oct. 29. A burglar kicked in a rear basement door and stole a black North Face winter jacket and two silver half-dollars.
Margate Road, 200 block, between 2:30 and 2:45 a.m., Oct. 29. A homeowner confronted a burglar attempting to steal an iPod. The burglar entered the house through an unlocked rear window before rummaging through a spare bedroom. The suspect ran from the home, out the rear sliding door, in an unknown direction.
Greenmeadow Drive, 100 block, between 9 p.m., Oct. 27 and 1:10 a.m., Oct. 28. A burglar stole cash, 20 Xbox games and 10 Nintendo Wii games after climbing in through an unlocked window.
Bedworth Road, 1600 block, between 12 p.m., Oct. 26 and 3:10 p.m., Oct. 28. A burglar stole a television, jewelry and cash after climbing inside through an unlocked garage window.
--The following incidents were reported two weeks ago, prior to Superstorm Sandy:
