Katie was a dear friend of mine growing up. Everyone makes mistakes in their lives. I'm willing to bet on the fact that you too have some skeletons in your closet, albeit not ones we can so easily find in public record. Katie was a mother, a daughter and a friend that was brutally murdered. No one, regardless of their past transgressions should have to endure such a violent end. Some people have to learn the hard way and go trough life battling demons in order to come out the other side. I'll tell you one thing, only the good Lord above can judge us. So just remember that when you face your maker you'll have a lot of explaining to do as to why you consider yourself so special to pass judgement on others.

I dont know Katie but she is a relative of a very close person in my daughters life. Its nice to see that this Mr Harry Callahan has so much time on his hands he can pull up a recent murder victims record and be so heartless. Not to mention, what about her unborn child? I also do not know Katie but I do know some of her family. You Mr. Callahan should be ashamed of yourself for even thinking such terrible thoughts muchless posting them on the Internet. That is the most heartless thing someone could possibly do at a time like this. Your mother obviously didn't do such a great job in raising you for you to be posting such tasteless comments. No one really gives a shit what she did or didn't do in her past. It's her past for Christ sake. Her poor children had to witness her being murdered!! That is something that they will never forget for the rest of their lives. I guarantee that will have more of a negative impact on their life then her selling marijuana before they were even born.

Anyone that could make such heartless, and reprehensible comments after such a tragedy needs to have a deep look inside themselves. For regardless of someone's past transgression, no one but no one deserves to be treated like she apparently was. Like all those comments before me, she was a daughter and a mother. I wish safe keeping for her children and deep condolences to her family.

Katie had the biggest heart. regardless of what her choices were. We all loved her and I know that she loved being a mother. I can remember hanging out in middle and high school with her and just laughing and laughing. Things get crazy. Times get tough. No one should ever judge or think that someone deserves to be killed...in front of kids..because of choices that are made. Its not our decision to judge. Remember...most of the people out there never really knew who Katie was. Deamons suck and we all have them...lets not hide that fact. And BTW..she wasn't shot....she was stabbed. A very, very, intimate form of death. Just keep that in mind.

Are there really people out there that look up people who have just passed and post such awful things about them? It really doesn't get any lower than that. He should be ashamed of himself. He has no clue what Katie's situation was. May God have mercy on his heartless soul.

I think Harry has a point. Ms Hadel had many problems it looks like . I heard she did bad things.

A mother lost her daughter today and two children lost their mother. My thoughts are with Katie's family. I can not even imagine the pain that they are feeling, Harry, those children will continue to be raised in a loving family and be reminded everyday how much their mother loved them

Mr Callahan, your post reflects far more unfavorably on you than Katie. Let us hope that when your time here on earth ends that you have mended your ways.

Thank u for removing that horrible post. I worked with Katie for many years and she had a heart of gold. Thats what matters!!! Nothing else. My prayers r with her family who I also had the wonderful opportunity of knowing. RIP KATIE

Katie was a beautiful loving kind hearted person. Yes she had a past just like we all do! She turned her life around completely and she wanted nothing but the best for her and her child. She was a bestfriend to me. Since I first met her I admired her and she was always there to support me. I can't even imagine how you would think it is ok to make bad comments on here! She was killed! Who deserves a death like that? She was a mother a daughter a wife a sister a aunt! May she rest in peace! And to Jeffrey shiflett I hope you burn in hell. I knew Katie years ago when she went to Franklin. She was close friends with my kids and she was such a beautiful girl. I had not seen her in years but I was glad when I heard through the grapevine she had married and was happy and had gotten her life together. I have a hard time wrapping my mind around how this could happen to her. Since she had a child, why wouldn’t protective services put them both up somewhere far away in another State until the Police could arrest him. Far away so she could not go home on a whim. But, asking ‘why’ is useless. It’s too late for her now. They say that on average, more than three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends in this country every day. For all the other Katies out there who will need protection, this may be the best reason to take an interest in getting better laws passed to protect women and children from this kind of senseless violence from scum bags like Shifflet. Oh, and yes, I hope he gets the death penalty.

I think the system could have done allot more to protect a pregnant mother and her child from a man who they knew was totally out to kill her, even if she was not in favor of their plan. He had said he would kill her little girl and Katie. Isn’t there an obligation to protect an unborn baby and a 3 year old? The system failed them. I wonder where our values are in this country in that it's not considered worth the tax payers money to have something in place where she would have been under watch at a real safe house, till they could find him and lock him up, but it is worth the tax payers money to feed and house him for the rest of his life behind bars.

Katie was a beautiful person and a SMART person to figure out how to get her life together. Jeff has the mental capacity of a 8 yr old and is mentally ill. PERIOD.
